Configuration
StarryDrive can automatically animate visual parts and lets you tune the vehicle's handling through attributes.
Visual Parts
You can assign visual wheels and a steering wheel for StarryDrive to animate automatically.
- Wheels rotate while driving.
- The steering wheel rotates when steering.
- Exhaust support is planned for a future update.
These parts are purely visual and do not affect the vehicle's physics.
Important: Only the PrimaryPart should have collisions enabled. Any additional parts, including decorative bumpers or wedges, should be Massless with collisions disabled.
Vehicle Attributes
| Attribute | Description |
|---|---|
Acceleration |
Controls how quickly the vehicle builds speed. Higher values provide stronger launches and allow the car to reach its top speed faster. |
MaxSpeed |
The vehicle's maximum speed. As the car approaches this limit, acceleration is gradually reduced. |
TurnSpeed |
Controls how quickly the vehicle changes its heading while steering. |
MaxSteer |
Sets the maximum angle the visual front wheels can rotate. |
DriftStrength |
Higher values make steering feel more responsive and direct, especially while drifting. Lower values produce smoother, slower steering that takes longer to align with your steering input. |
Suspension |
Controls suspension travel distance. Higher values create softer suspension, while lower values make the suspension stiffer. A value around 3 is a good starting point for most vehicles. |
TurnLift |
Tilts the vehicle during turns for a more dynamic appearance. While this can improve visuals, it can also interfere with the suspension raycasts. It's recommended to leave this at 0 while tuning your vehicle. |
Recommended Starting Values
- TurnLift:
0 - Suspension:
3
Once the vehicle feels stable, you can fine-tune the remaining attributes to achieve the handling style you're aiming for.
